| Description: | Introduction
The use of elderly patients in emergency departments and operating theaters is more
and more frequent. The aim of this work is to show the interest of perioperative GU and PPU
in the study of the relationship between the preoperative gastric content and PPC in elderly
subjects operated in emergency, with study of the specificities of the geriatric field.
Materials and Methods
This is a prospective, observational and descriptive, monocentric study, carried out
over a period of 24 months at Bejaia University Hospital, involving all patients aged 65 and
over, candidates for emergency surgery. Demographic parameters, pre-anesthetic assessment
scores and co-morbidities are recorded. The preoperative clinical examination, GU and PPU
are controlled by another postoperative clinical examination and PPU.
